While touring in Malaysia I decided to have a health screening at Gleneagles Hospital in Kuala Lumpur. I had several choices for different physicals and I chose one that covered all the tests that I wanted. I made my appointment and prepared for the tests.
On the day of the test I walked into the health screening area and was greeted by the nurse who took me to the registration desk. The people were friendly and helpful and after they recorded my health profile. I then followed the nurse to the first stage in the screening.
I found the staff friendly and professional in each stage of the program. When I was finished I was given a voucher for a lunch in the hospital cafe and returned at a scheduled time for the review. When I arrived I was given a folder with my test results. It highlighted any areas of concern. The doctor read out my report and discussed the ones that needed attention. I left afterwards feeling that I had a complete physical and knew that every part of my body was working well.
When I returned to the U.S. I made an appointment with my doctor and showed him the report. He glanced at it and said that most of the tests were not needed and he returned the report to me without reading the results. I was surprised at his response and told him that I was pleased that the health screening at Gleneagles was so comprehensive and not just an update on my blood pressure and heart rate.
As a result I plan to return to Gleneagles in Kuala Lumpur next year for another health screening since it provided me with a better overview of my health than I could receive from my physician.
